  1. Apr 12,  · Time to start a thread regarding the best sounding Yes albums on CD - I'm limiting my choices to the mid period of Yes and original mixes only, starting with The Yes Album. Feel free to chime in. The Yes Album - Barry Diament's original Atlantic CD - a nice transfer without NoNoise or compression. Clean, dynamic and easy to turn up loud.
  2. The final stop of the U.S. Tormato tour was highlighted in this broadcast with some songs rarely if ever heard in other Yes tours, particularly don't kill the whale, circus of heaven, and on the silent wings of freedom (I'm counting the 79 tour as basically 78 part two tour, since there was no new Yes album .
  3. The '70s model of Yes runs out of gas. Recorded in a morale slump and an impending haze of drink, Tormato's decent tunes are sabotaged by Rick Wakeman's increasing penchant for cheesy textures and the band's thin overall sound. "Don't Kill the Whale" was their last successful single for years; the soaring "Onward" almost but not quite redeems the twee silliness of "Arriving UFO" and "Circus of 4/
  4. The album that came to be known as "Tormato" really should have been called "Yes Tor." The actual Yes Tor, a high point of land in the county of Devon in southwestern England, can be seen on the album's cover, behind the man in the suit with the dowsing rods, and the tomato splatter/5().

  7. ‘Tormato’ marked the close of the great creative s era for Yes, and from this time on the band – which became a kind of venerable music-industry brand with a particular recognisable sound – entered a new dynamic, characterised by a collegiate caucas of musicians who came and went, performed the old favourites and occasionally /5().
  8. yes tormato. although this isnt one of yes best efforts as rick wakeman states this could have been one of yes"s best albums there is alot of brillant work here, it just isnt finished the way it should have been, it could have been way better it does have great songs on here, and id suggest getting the extended version if you are able, it is still worth the listen, but it isnt your yes /5(13).
  9. It is the last album featuring singer Jon Anderson and keyboardist Wakeman before the band's disbanding in However Anderson returned to Yes when the band reformed in , and Wakeman returned in See YES on Tour in performing 3 full-length albums: The Yes Album, Close To The Edge & Going For The One.
